Sensory Wander: A Dark Sky Walk for Women

3rd Nov 2024 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join Claire and Jenny to walk at night, in a protected Dark Sky reserve for a sensory, imaginary, playful and transformative experience, as part of the North York Moors National Park’s Dark Skies Fringe Festival - 25 October to 3 November 2024

Claire Hind; a walking artist and Jenny Hall; a cultural geographer and mountaineer, (both based at York St John University), are collaborating to curate a Dark Sky walk in the North York Moors, and for women.

It is a gentle, steady paced walk, through woodland, in and around the earthworks of a Roman Camp at Cawthorn - moving from the light and into the dark as a sensory activity for women.

The night walk in a rural Dark Sky reserve will focus on the terrain beneath our feet, the biodiversity of the night as an ecological and nocturnal exploration of the dark whilst connecting to the astronomical sky above.  If it is a cloudy night, the sensory walk goes ahead.

Places are limited to 14 women and booking in advance is essential due to limited numbers.
