Dark Skies Sound Walk

29th Oct 2024 6:00 pm

A free dark skies sound walk lead by Cecilia Tyrrell (sound artist). The walk will take place along Sutton Bank and as we walk we will listen, noticing how the land around us shapes what we hear and how sound interacts with our bodies on a physical level. The walk will introduce the participants to the idea of Deep Listening at night, helping us to become aware of our immediate acoustic environment and listening to sounds that might otherwise go unheard.

The walk will be 45 minutes long, following the circular route from the dark skies event area, out towards the viewpoint and then looping back to the dark skies area. Along the walk, we will make a few stops to pause/reflect and notice sound. Cecilia will guide the participants throughout the walk, drawing attention to sounds near and far, giving listening prompts as we travel from point to point and facilitating a creative and playful atmosphere.  The aim is to walk slowly and gently. This is an event that welcomes a slower pace, an open mind and child-like curiosity! There will be moments of individual reflection and group connection.
